Cheryl has worked in nonprofit for ten years. She started her nonprofit career working for a local Chamber of Commerce in North Dakota and relocating to Jerome, where she spent over five years running the Jerome Chamber of Commerce.
Cheryl began her career in curriculum development at the Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta. After moving to the United States in 2000, she continued in higher education and then stayed home to raise her three children. Upon reentering the workforce, she spent a short time in banking and eventually ended up in a nonprofit. After earning her bachelor's degree, she then went on to earn an MBA degree specializing in Marketing.
Some of her successes at the Chambers include membership growth, social media marketing, and leadership program development. One of her favorite projects was launching the Youth Leadership Program, working with High School students and taking them on industry tours to learn about future jobs.
Cheryl is an accomplished writer and presenter. She has presented nationally at Chamber conventions, sharing her expertise and knowledge and authoring leadership blog posts and articles for the local newspaper.
She has lived in two Canadian provinces and five US states in communities and metropolises of all sizes, giving her a broad perspective on the uniqueness of each community. Cheryl is earning a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership and is passionate about serving communities and helping businesses grow.
Cheryl is excited to work with Frontier and the REDS program to help small rural communities thrive.

In February 2023,
Frontier collaborated with the Idaho Department of Commerce to prepare an application to participate in an EDA-funded Policy Academy focusing on “Aligning State and Regional Economic Development Strategies and Actions.”
Idaho was one of six states in the nation, and the only state in the Seattle Region, to be selected to participate in this opportunity directed by the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC).
The project team named the initiative 44Go! (to represent the 44 counties in the State) and established a vision of “To formalize and institutionalize collaborative regional and state planning processes to create an inclusive economic development community within the state”. The project highlighted the importance of collaboration and alignment between the State and Economic Development organizations in order to leverage the greatest number of resources for the residents of Idaho.
